Depot charging

Switching to electric trucks is a strategic upgrade. Yet, like all upgrades, it comes with new things to learn and new systems to set up. We provide depot charging solutions and charging strategies for vehicle brands within Volvo Group, so we can ensure that your switch to electric is simple, seamless and successful.

Easing the electric transition

Our mission is to enhance and simplify your electric vehicle experience. As well as supplying chargers for Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, and Mack Trucks, we aim to assist in setting up depot charging solutions that suit your needs. By integrating with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), we ensure you’re best positioned to fully benefit from electrical advancements.

On-site and on-point

Establishing a reliable charging infrastructure at your premises is essential. But it’s more than just installation. From planning to execution, Volvo Energy offers customized charging solutions, ensuring your electric fleet is always ready to roll.

FAQ about depot charging

If you cannot find an answer to your question, you are always welcome to contact us or your dealer.

We offer two types of EV truck chargers:

  1. Overnight/off-shift chargers for long, slow charging periods.
  2. Opportunity/mid-shift chargers for quick charges during short breaks. These options provide flexibility to suit your charging needs and schedule.

Support to buy a charger for your vehicle can be given by your local dealership.

The duration to charge an EV truck at a depot charging station can vary based on the power level of the charger. If you're using a charger with a low power level, it generally takes about 8-9 hours. However, with a high power level charger, you can expect it to take roughly 1.5-2 hours. Remember, these times are approximations, and actual charging times may vary slightly.

We are developing digital services for depot charging, with the primary purpose that the customer should be able to ensure the vehicle is ready for its planned mission. The first version in a series of planned services is scheduled to be released in mid-2024.

Power for every mile

Once your trucks are out on the road, they’ll need powering up on their way. Through close partnerships, we’re establishing charging infrastructure across Europe and North America. Paired with our digital charging services, your drivers will be granted access to a global charging point network. These services will be integrated directly into your truck’s interface, ensuring effortless charging wherever the road leads.
